Due to the lack of business reference material available for engineering firms, Engineering Business Publications was formed to provide specific business information directly related to the profession. Since engineering is quite different from any other business, only a small amount of information can be gathered from any one business book. Even other professional service businesses (Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, and so on) operate their businesses quite differently.

Even though Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, AIA (Archtects) can obtain their continuing education units or professional development hours through online courses, there are few continuing education courses on the business of engineering.

Engineering Business Publications task is to gather pertinent information related to the engineering profession, expand on the engineering business experience of the parent company, and to incorporate information from key partners such as surveyors, architects, bankers, accountants, developers, and other clients. The end result is a series of engineering business continuing education courses on operating a successful engineering firm. Over 25 courses are now published on this website with over 35 Professional Development Hours (PDH) available, and numerous other courses are being written now and will be available on the website in the coming months. The editors of the website are also writing numerous articles on the business of engineering. Many of those articles are available on this website.

The objective of Engineering Business Publications is to become the main source of reliable information on the operation of an engineering company. The company is also planning on offering not only Continuing Education courses, but also publications that engineers can use as a business resource. The company is in the process of publishing its first book by the end of 2010. That book has been written and is currently with the editor. Several more books are planned for publication in the following year.
